Kanti Sweets
Kanti Sweets is a traditional sweet brand established in 1957 when Pandit Jyoti Swarup Sharma started 'Kanti Sweet Meat Stall'. Currently a family-owned business, Kanti Sweets has over 120 stores in Bengaluru and Mysuru. They are one of the few sweet makers to have an ISO certification and a unique hi-tech Mithai Lab.
Problem Statement
To explore storytelling formats for the website and a brochure which connects the brand with Indian traditions and culture and highlights the brand legacy.
Creative Solution
We quickly realized that a traditional brochure couldn’t do justice to Kanti Sweets’ remarkable legacy. We wanted to create something more; a keepsake that wouldn’t just narrate their story, but would also serve as a lasting brand asset. Enter ‘The Sihi Journal,’ a unique blend of tradition and modernity. We chose watercolor illustrations to infuse the design with a traditional aesthetic, while adding a contemporary touch. We started with Kanti Sweets’ humble beginnings, showcasing their first store, and then wove their journey into a vibrant narrative. The journal featured illustrations of iconic symbols of Karnataka, such as a Kathakali dancer and a decorated elephant, connecting the brand deeply with its roots.
But the journal needed more than just visuals, it needed a personal connection. So, we added nostalgic prompts that encouraged readers to reflect on their own love for sweets. These fun, engaging questions brought out personal connections to the delicacies, turning the journal into an interactive experience that went beyond storytelling.
